Data

The Monte Carlo files are produced for a specific frozen release. Each file contains information on the software release so that information is always carried with the file.

All files are stored on the nas-pool space at /nas-pool/e929/mc/ in directories named for the software release. The subdirectories for each release are cosmics and genie to reflect the generator used to produce the file.

The name of the detector used is in the file name.

Cosmic Rays

The file names have the form nova_<detector>_cry_<#>_spills_<sub>.root where <detector> is the detector name, ie ipndshed, <#> is the number of spills in the file, and <sub> is a unique identifier for the case where multiple files contain the same number of spills.

GENIE

The file names have the form nova_<detector>_genie_<beam>_<extra detail>_<#>POT.root where <detector> is the detector name, ie ipndshed, <beam> is the beam type used, ie medium energy (ME), and <extra detail> holds extra information about the file, such as size of muon ranger in the near detector, and <#> is the number of POT represented in the file.
